Tory has been dancing and teaching throughout New England for over 20 years. She specializes in Jazz, Tap, and Contemporary, though she has love for all styles of dance. In addition to performing as a soloist with Newington Youth Ballet, Tory danced with the division 1 Dance Team at the University of Vermont and later danced with CCSU's Dancentral. She currently dances with Connecticut Tap Collaborative and most recently danced in the revival of Alwin Nikolais with the Nikolais Foundation.
Newington Dance Center combines scientific principles with elements from the classic French, Italian and Russian schools of training with a focus on the method developed by George Balanchine, founder of The New York City Ballet, to ensure proper alignment, agility, classical technique, musicality, and terminology. Ballet is the foundation of most other forms of dance.
Contemporary dance is a style of expressive movement that combines several dance genres including modern, lyrical, jazz, and ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and body through fluid dance movements.
Street dance styles primarily performed to Hip Hop music or that have evolved as part of the Hip Hop culture.
Jazz dance encompasses a broad range of dance styles from Broadway to music videos. Various styles of famous choreographers will also be featured.
This style of dancing blends elements of ballet, jazz and modern together. Class begins with a warm-up and stretching with the remainder of the class focusing on choreography.
Musical theater is a class with dancing similar to what you see in Broadway musicals. Wonderful if you are interested in performing with community theater groups.

Our "Happy Feet", "Creative Dance Adventures" and" Welcome to Dance Land" classes offer a range of experiences that facilitate self-esteem, creativity, proper development of alignment, neurological coordination and a fundamental exploration of baseline concepts that are the building blocks for future learning.
Tap dance is characterized by using taps on shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion.
Tatyana has been dancing and performing for most of her life, first performing in The Nutcracker in 2003. Some of her more notable projects include Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast, as well as a featured dancer in many community theater productions. Tatyana has been a soloist with Newington Youth Ballet for the past 10 years in addition to choreographing for many theater productions, ballets and competitions.
Shaunessey Lambert, trained for 14 years at New England Dance and Gymnastics, Westfield, MA in various styles including Jazz, Ballet, Hip-hop, Contemporary, Lyrical, Musical Theater and Tap, winning many prestigious dance competitions. Shaunessey has always been a favorite assistant teacher and choreographer and has performed in many theatrical productions with several local companies including Simsbury Summer Theater.
Jane Levin, B.A. - Director
Jane Levin hails from Yonkers, N.Y. and is now proud to call Newington her home for the past 30 years. Jane received her training at The School of American Ballet, American Ballet Theater, The Joffery Ballet, Vera Nemptchinova School of Ballet, Steps, and Broadway Dance Center. She has performed with The New York City Ballet and was a soloist with Ballet Atlantic in addition to performing at The Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center and The Encore Dinner Theater. Many of Jane's students have been accepted into the prestigious Rock School of The Pennsylvania Ballet, School of The Chicago City Ballet and The JKO School of American Ballet Theater as well as the distinguished dance programs of S.U.N.Y at Purchase, Marymount College, Pace University, Point Park College and Dean College many on full scholarship. In addition to working with dancers from "Dance Moms" and "Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition" many other students Jane has trained have also danced professionally with American Ballet Theater, The Royal Ballet of London, have been featured on "So You Think You Can Dance", have appeared on numerous commercials, webisodes, television shows including the hit Nickelodeon show "Lazy Town", stared as Clara in Radio City's " Christmas Spectacular" and the Broadway productions of "Newsies" , Cats and Cinderella.
Amanda Butler, M.A. - Assistant Director
Amanda is a native of Newington. She received her training in Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary, Jazz and Hip Hop at Northeast School of Performing Arts, Northeast Youth Ballet, Steps and Broadway Dance Center. Amanda's professional credits include dancing as a soloist with Northeast Youth Ballet as well as featured roles with Ballet Atlantic in NY and Dance Central. Amanda's choreography for competitions has been very well received with her dancers being offered scholarships and winning top awards and titles. Amanda has won numerous choreography awards for her unique style and passionate choreography. In addition to her advanced degrees in Psychology and School Counseling, Amanda minored in theater and has appeared on MTV'S " The Real World", " The Adjustment Bureau" with Matt Damon and Emily Blunt and several independent projects including starring in the Indie film "30 Minutes To Swim".
Kristen is a Hofstra University graduate. She earned the opportunity to be on the Hofstra University's Dance Team for two years, winning the D1 National Pom Championship both seasons. In 2017, HUDT represented the US National Team in Colombia, winning Gold at the Pan-American Championships. She also formerly danced with Newington Youth Ballet. Currently, she is a member of DanceWorks New York City and choreographing company dances.
